CREW: A Workforce Recruitment & Retention Strategy
Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC) invites member health centers to participate in the Collaborative for Retention, Engagement, and Wellness (CREW). This program will bring together 5-8 member clinic teams to learn and discuss recruitment, onboarding, retention, and staff wellness through a justice and transformation lens, as it relates to staff burnout, well-being, and the quality of care we provide to our communities.
CREW offers member health center teams a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate, and implement strategies that enhance workforce well-being and job satisfaction. Through this program, participants will exchange insights with peers, explore innovative research and evidence-based practices, and apply practical solutions to support their teams. By engaging in CREW, health center staff will play an active role in fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes well-being—demonstrating to patients, colleagues, and the broader community their commitment to a thriving, resilient workforce and high-quality care.
Program Format:
CREW kicks off in August with a personalized group orientation session, where health center teams will get an overview of the program and what to expect. This will be followed by a six-week virtual training series focused on practical strategies to enhance staff satisfaction, well-being, and retention that will begin September 4.
During orientation, teams will receive a Welcome Packet and an overview of the pre-assessment questions, which must be completed before the first coaching session. Each team will be paired with a dedicated coach from Expert Effect, who will provide hands-on support through an initial assessment, two coaching sessions, and ongoing weekly guidance. After the program, coaches will follow up two months later to assess progress and offer additional technical assistance if needed.
This is an opportunity to take real steps toward building a healthier, more engaged workforce—while learning alongside peers who share the same commitment to staff well-being and high-quality care.
To celebrate and learn from each other’s efforts, all participating health centers will come together on December 18, 2025, to share insights and outcomes in a brief (12-15 minute) presentation at the intervention sharing session.
Requirements:
- Teams must have buy-in & attendance from at least one (C-suite) staff member with the authority to guide and implement interventions.
- Teams must attend pre-assessment session with coaches and two coaching sessions.
- Teams must consist of 3-5 members and must be able to attend orientation all virtual sessions on the following dates:
- September 4, 2025; 10:00-12:00PM
- September 11, 2025; 10:00-12:00PM
- September 18, 2025; 10:00-12:00PM
- September 25, 2025; 10:00-12:00PM
- October 2, 2025; 10:00-12:00PM
- October 9, 2025; 12:00-2:00PM
- Intervention Sharing: December 18, 2025
