CREW: A Workforce Retention Strategy

Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC) invites member health centers to participate in the Collaborative for Retention, Engagement, and Wellness (CREW). This program will bring together 5-8 member clinic teams to learn and discuss recruitment, onboarding, retention and staff wellness through a justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion lens, as it relates to staff burnout, wellbeing and the quality of care that we provide to our communities.

CREW will allow member health center teams to learn from one another while they test and implement organizational strategies to improve workforce wellbeing and satisfaction. By participating in CREW, health center teams will learn from their peers; learn new and innovative research and evidence-informed practices; and demonstrate to their patients, staff, and community that their health center is actively engaged in efforts to promote staff well-being and quality of care. 

Program Format: 

We will kickoff with an orientation session to provide an overview of the program followed by an 8-week, virtual didactic training series. During orientation, teams will receive a packet of interventions and will be asked to identify and test at least one intervention to increase staff satisfaction, wellness, and ultimately, retention within their organizations. Each team will also be assigned a coach from Expert Effect that will support the clinics with their interventions over an initial assessment and will receive technical assistance over 2 coaching sessions. Coaches will follow up with participating health centers 3 months after CREW has ended to track clinics’ progress by completing a post-assessment. Additionally, the health centers will come together to share out the progress of their interventions by providing a short 6-8 minute presentation at the intervention sharing session on February 13, 2025. 

Requirements: 

  • Teams must have buy-in from one (C-suite) staff member with the authority to guide and implement interventions. 
  • Teams must consist of 3-5 members and must be able to attend all virtual sessions on the following dates: 
    • Orientation/Coaching – September 19, 2024; 12:00-2:00PM  
    • Recruitment Across Generations – September 26, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM 
    • Onboarding – October 3, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM 
    • Creating Safe Spaces – October 10, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM – Retention Strategies  
    • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion – October 17, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM – 
    • Stay Interviews – October 24, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM  
    • Engaged and Supportive Leadership – October 31, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM  
    • Restorative Practices – November 7, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM  
    • Building Trust and Healthy Conflict – November 14, 2024; 12:00-1:30PM  
    • Wellness Strategies – November 21. 2024; 12:00-2:00PM
    • Intervention Sharing- February 13, 2025 12:00-2:00PM
