Children’s Presumptive Eligibility & Newborn Gateway
Effective July 1, 2024, DHCS rebranded the gateway as Children’s Presumptive Eligibility (CPE). CHDP Gateway functionality and eligibility rules are retained. CPE is a means for Quality Providers (QPs) to grant temporary, full-scope Medi-Cal coverage to eligible applicants using an electronic application. CPE determinations are based on self-attestation of certain facts included in an application, no verification required. This webpage provides updated information about the transition from CHDP Gateway to CPE and the expansion of QPs qualified to participate in CPE.
