Suicide: Considerations for Health Center Leaders

November 12, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Suicide is one of the chronic illnesses which has been increasing in communities across the country, and numbers are expected to rise as the impact of COVID-19 is felt. Community health center leaders need to think about the role they play in their community to help suicide prevention efforts and to communicate that suicides are preventable. Health center leaders need to consider strong clinical pathways to care for patients at risk, support for employees, and human resources to address suicide risk among staff as suicide among healthcare providers is a rising problem. Participants will learn about the prevalence of suicide and ways their health center can be proactive in creating a system that supports patients and team members who are at risk for suicide.

As a result of attending this training:

• Participants will be able to understand the prevalence and risk factors for suicide
• Participants will understand necessary components for a systemic approach to suicide prevention
• Participants will be able to understand organizational approaches to prevent staff suicide

CME credits are being provided by American Academy of Family Physicians in accordance with their guidelines and will be provided after the training.
