CYBER THREATS: NOT IF, BUT WHEN

Complimentary for CCALAC MembersOrganizations of all sizes, including within the health care sector, are increasingly suffering from cyber extortions, data breaches, and other cyber-attacks. These cyber-attacks not only directly impact those targeted, but public safety overall. Supervisory Special Agent Ron Manuel from the FBI Los Angeles Cyber Task Force will detail the scope of the cyber threat we face today, provide an overview of the role of the FBI and U.S. Government in combatting cyber threats, and what organizations can do to better protect themselves from the onslaught of today’s cyber-attacks.

Instructor Biography:
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Ron Manuel leads the FBI Los Angeles Cyber Task Force which is comprised of Special Agents, State and Local Task Force Officers, Intelligence Analysts, Computer Scientists, and other support staff at FBI Los Angeles. The Task Force is responsible for investigating criminal cyber activity impacting the greater Los Angeles area. SSA Manuel has also led international terrorism investigations and previously ran FBI LA’s training program for new special agents. Prior to his employment with the FBI, he was a supply chain planner for Motorola, Inc and a U.S. Army Officer with multiple deployments. SSA Manuel received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Drexel University.
