Words Matter: Finding Gender Inclusive Vocabulary Grounded in Heart
May 11, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeThis presentation aims to improve gender responsiveness in the healthcare system through practitioner and leadership education. As Colin Druhan writes, “Today’s workplace must reflect the reality that gender is not as simple as previously thought. Understanding how to include everyone, regardless of how they identify and express their gender, is the key to unlocking the potential of any workforce.” This session will focus on enhancing awareness, knowledge and skills in choosing vocabulary wisely and with respectful inclusion in mind. Participants will have an opportunity to participate in skill-building exercises as well.
By the end of the session, attendees will:
- Understand how to differentiate between gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth and physical attractions
- Learn how to describe transgender developmental milestones
- Practice gender inclusive language
Presented by Jeffrey Ring, PhD, Health Psychologist and Leadership Coach.
Complimentary for CCALAC Members & Affiliates & the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers (COCCHC).
