Join us for a Free Provider Training on Pre-conception Care + Screening: The P.A.T.H. Framework + Real Talk. Real Options. Campaign
This one-hour training designed for CCALAC members will provide an overview of client-centered contraceptive and preconception counseling, and how to engage patients in affirming, unbiased, nonjudgmental conversations about sexual + reproductive health. As a participant, you will learn about the new community-informed Real Talk. Real Options. campaign, led by AAIMM, and leave with tools to empower your patients throughout their sexual + reproductive health journeys and resources to integrate the P.A.T.H. (Pregnancy/Parenthood Attitude, Timing + How Important) framework.

Training Presenters:
Dr. Priya Batra joined the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in 2022. A board-certified Obstetrician-
Gynecologist, Dr. Batra completed her MD degree at Columbia University and her clinical training at the University of
California, Los Angeles. She also completed an MS degree in Health Policy and Management at UCLA’s Fielding School of
Public Health. Dr. Batra’s formal training and experience in health services research and implementation science play a
large role in her approach to improving health and equity across communities.
Andria Hancock-Crear, MPH, is a Senior Trainer and Continuing Education Specialist at Essential Access Health in
Los Angeles, CA. She has over 30+ years of public health experience creating, managing and coordinating a variety of
professional quality improvement and community health programs. Ms. Hancock-Crear has particular expertise in
sexual and reproductive health and family planning, including unbiased patient-centered education and counseling that
center patient autonomy and improved health outcomes. She has a Master of Public Health from University of California,
Los Angeles.
Dr. Melissa R. Franklin is a public health leader with over 25 years of experience in organizational development and
communications, and 15 years in community building and consulting for both public health and public education. Her work
focuses on transforming systems so that they live up to their ultimate purpose of uplifting and healing people and
communities. Dr. Franklin was recently appointed Director of Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health for the Los Angeles
County Department of Public Health’s Health Promotion Bureau. In this capacity, she oversees programs that support the
health and wellbeing of pregnant individuals, infants and children, including the African American Infant and Maternal
Mortality Prevention Initiative, which she helped launch in 2018, and Black Infant Health Program, Asthma Coalition,
Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Help Me Grow, Home Visitation Programs, and Positive Youth Development.
