Capital Link will present findings from the Cedars-Sinai supported 2018-2021 CCALAC Performance Evaluation Profile (PEP) for the Los Angeles region as well as its 57 individual FQHC members. Information will include trends in financial and operational performance, revenue/patients/FTE growth, productivity, and payer mix. We will also review newly tracked metrics in the PEP report such as patient characteristics, health outcome and disparities, and staffing ratios.

During this training, participants will:

• Understand overall trends in key performance areas for the Los Angeles region, with a particular emphasis on 2021 results.
• Learn the importance of metrics included in the analysis and what they mean.
• Understand how to read and apply information in your individual health center PEP report for successful health center management.
• Learn the latest FQHC median 2021 metrics and ratios for the Los Angeles region, CA, and the Nation to better understand your own health center performance accordingly.

Instructor Biography:

Susan Petrie, MBA, Chief Financial & Operating Officer, Capital Link.

Susan Petrie joined Capital Link in 2005 as the Director of Finance, Operations and Data, and now oversees all program, financial, and administrative areas, including developing strategic partnerships with Primary Care Associations, foundations, and others interested in advancing community health center growth and financial sustainability. She works closely with Capital Link staff and partners to analyze health center trends and costs to help health centers identify areas for performance improvement, spearheading enhancements to Capital Link’s proprietary database of nearly 10,000 financial audits. She is also responsible for the management of all financial and information systems functions at Capital Link, including accounting and financial reporting, contracts and grants management, payroll and human resources functions, budgeting, technology and information systems and office services. 

Prior to joining Capital Link, she was publisher of MIT’s Sloan Management Review journal where she directed editorial, circulation, and business operations and managed a staff of 10. At International Data Group, a $3 billion global information services provider, Ms. Petrie managed worldwide financial planning and analysis in her role as corporate vice president and member of the firm’s Executive Committee. 

Ms. Petrie earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science in finance with highest honors from Babson College and is located in Capital Link’s Boston, Massachusetts office. 

Jen Saber, MBA, DrBA, Senior Director of Data & Information Systems from Capital Link

Jen Saber joined Capital Link in 2018 as the Director of Data & Information Systems and was promoted to Senior Director in 2022. In this role, Ms. Saber serves as a member of Capital Link’s leadership team, providing guidance, developing, and overseeing the organization’s proprietary database to conduct data analyses and translate the findings to aid in addressing challenges and opportunities for the community health center industry. Ms. Saber also coordinates and oversees the organization’s information systems and guides development of existing and new technical strategies. 

Ms. Saber brings more than two decades of technology, support, and management experience to Capital Link. Prior to joining Capital Link in 2018, Ms. Saber was Senior Vice President of Information Technology for Kaspersky Lab leading and managing all aspects of information technology strategy, operations, infrastructure, and systems. Preceding Kaspersky Lab, Jen held management positions in the technology, financial, and property management industries. 

Ms. Saber holds an MBA degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Doctor of Business Administration (DrBA) from Walden University. She is located at Capital Link’s Boston, Massachusetts office.
