Preparing for Medi-Cal Changes
The State of California has announced changes to the Medi-Cal program, including freezing enrollment for Medi-Cal eligible individuals with Unsatisfactory Immigration Status (UIS), ceasing PPS payments for service rendered to UIS patients (instead paying fee-for-service), and stopping dental coverage for UIS adults. All of these changes will be in effect by July 1, 2026! Is your organization prepared to address the multiple Medi-Cal changes on the horizon, as well as impending threats to Medi-Cal at the federal level? Join CCALAC and Curt Degenfelder for this 90-minute webinar designed to help Los Angeles County FQHC leaders navigate this dynamic environment. We will explore essential tips and tools for scenario planning, illustrate real-world examples of budget contingency plans and re-forecasting in action, and share strategies to protect your health center’s financial sustainability amid ongoing federal and state fiscal changes. We will review analytic tools allowing participants to calculate the impact on their own health center.
By attending this session, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the current state and federal regulatory dynamics impacting Los Angeles FQHCs, including finalized state allocations and anticipated federal decisions.
- Gain practical skills to develop and apply scenario planning tools that support financial sustainability and adaptability in times of uncertainty.
- Analyze real-world examples of scenario planning in California health centers to identify key strategies for mitigating risk and maintaining service continuity.
