Caring for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
December 5 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Community health centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families on a daily basis. However, many providers and clinical staff feel uncomfortable assessing and addressing their needs. During this training, Achievable Health will share strategies for effective communication, assessment of behavior changes or challenges, and available resources when serving people with IDD.
As a result of attending this training, attendees will be able to:
- Identify health disparities for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities and have strategies to reduce those disparities.
- Describe how to evaluate common behavior changes in people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and others who have difficulty communicating.
- Feel more confident in their ability to care for patients of all abilities.
