SUMMARY:Breaking the Cycle\, Supporting the Team: Addressing Anxiety in Mission-Driven Work
DESCRIPTION:For many in mission-focused organizations\, anxiety isn’t just an occasional visitor—it’s practically on payroll. Between national politics\, wanting to protect the communities we serve\, funding threats\, digital distractions\, and the never-ending list of “urgent” tasks (seriously\, how can everything be urgent?)\, it’s no wonder we’re all running on stress fumes.  \nThis interactive two-session course from CCALAC and Hunter Gatewood is here to help.   \nWe’ll take a step back\, look at the three levels where anxiety and stress operate\, and explore real strategies to make work feel a little less like an endless emergency. Together\, we will tackle:  \n\nHow can I manage my own stress\, to direct my focus and creativity where I want it to go?\nHow do I support my team without just saying\, “Hang in there!” and sending another emoji? \nHow can I stay engaged in the threatening political landscape without getting stuck feeling angry and overwhelmed? \nLet’s challenge the anxiety cycle\, reclaim some peace of mind\, and maybe even have fun doing it. \n\nAs a result of attending this training\, attendees will be able to:  \n\nChoose one or more habits to manage personal stress effectively\, enabling them to direct their focus and creativity where desired. \nLearn practical approaches for supporting team members and cultivating healthier team dynamics in the face of (understandable\, normal) high levels of anxiety that people bring to team interactions. \nApply methods to challenge the pervasive anxiety cycle common in mission-driven work\, aiming to reclaim a sense of peace and calm. \nDecide how they want to engage with the news media with intention\, as part of the work of serving diverse low-income and immigrant communities\, and as compassionate people in the world. \n\nPresented by Hunter Gatewood\, MSW\, LCSW\, Owner and Principal\, Signal Key Consulting \nSpace is limited! \nCCALAC Members & Affiliates $50\, Non-members $75 \nRegister Now! \nInstructor Biography \nHunter Gatewood\, MSW\, LCSW\, and his company Signal Key Consulting partner with organizations that want healthy teams and an adaptive learning culture. He specializes in supporting people who manage from the middle of organizations. His background before his work on leadership and culture are in social work for people with multiple complex needs\, and systems redesign through quality improvement instruction and coaching. Learn more about Hunter’s ideas and leadership courses at www.huntergatewood.com.  \nThis training is generously supported by Cedars Sinai and Kaiser Permanente.
