SUMMARY:Acute Stress Syndrome Stabilization (ASSYST) Procedure ©
DESCRIPTION:The ASSYST Complete is a comprehensive on demand training designed to equip clinicians with rapid EMDR-based interventions for acute stress\, dissociation\, and complex trauma. These simple and effective protocols can be used immediately and are especially helpful in fast-paced or high-stakes clinical environments. \nThe objective of the ASSYST procedures is to help regulate a client’s nervous system by decreasing sympathetic branch hyperactivation. This is accomplished by reducing the distressing components (sensory\, emotional\, or physiological) of intrusive symptoms using bilateral stimulation. \nOn a scale from 0 to 10 (with 10 being high disturbance and 0 being no disturbance)\, the ASSYST procedures have been shown to reduce the intensity of distress from high (6–10) to low (0–3). This reduction helps make the client’s distressing symptoms more manageable\, supporting day-to-day functioning and allowing for smoother engagement in follow-up treatment. \nThe distress addressed through ASSYST may stem from traumatic events\, aspects of mental illness\, memories of adverse life experiences\, or environmental stressors. As a result of receiving the ASSYST procedures\, research shows a significant reduction in symptoms of anxiety\, depression\, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). \nBy participating in this on-demand training\, attendees will be able to: \n\nExplain the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) theoretical model.\nDescribe what pathogenic memories are.\nIdentify how to obtain nervous system regulation with intrusive memories and the impact that has on the clinical experience.\nExplain how to utilize the ASSYST procedure with the general population in one’s private practice.\nIdentify what clinicians should do during critical care\, rapid response\, or early intervention and why.\nExplain how clinicians can keep a non-anxious presence to help stabilize the client’s nervous system.\n\nPresented by Kelly Smyth-Dent\, LCSW\, Founder and President of Scaling Up\, LLC\, EMDR Advanced Trainer & EMDRIA Approved Consultant & Trainer \nPlease email the CCALAC Training Center if you are interested in accessing the on-demand training at training@ccalac.org. \nInstructor Biography \nA Licensed Clinical Social Worker\, EMDR Trainer and published researcher\, Kelly stands at the forefront of EMDR therapy and training on a global scale. Her work has taken her across continents—from France to Ethiopia and from Bangladesh to India\, as well as throughout the United States—conducting EMDR Basic and Advanced Trainings. \nAs a valued member of world-renowned EMDR-specialist Dr. Ignacio Jarero’s esteemed research team in Mexico\, Kelly contributes to the cutting-edge development of EMDR therapy. Kelly serves as a lead trainer of specialists\, ensuring that the facilitation of EMDR therapy adheres to the highest standards of excellence and consistency. \nKelly’s authentic and innovative approach to running Scaling Up allows for a large community of high-quality trainers and therapists who share similar values and mission to work together to make therapy more accessible and affordable globally.

DESCRIPTION:June 3: Session #1 – Primary Care Capitation: The Clinical Imperative \nCalifornia FQHCs have adopted a care team model approach as Patient Centered Medical Homes. However\, fee-for-service reimbursement policy limits use of non-billable members of the care team and non-billable venues\, even when clinically appropriate and preferable from a patient perspective. This webinar will describe clinical models of primary and behavioral care that become financially sustainable under the FQHC APM 2.0 and how that flexibility will become increasingly important to FQHCs in the future. We will also offer a brief update on how recent actions at the federal level may influence clinical models and the APM. \nBy the end of the session\, participants should be able to: \n\nList at least three ways in which a capitated FQHC APM can serve as a tool for increasing market share\, attracting and retaining workforce\, and succeeding in value-based care.\nDescribe how adult populations can be managed differently under a combination of a capitated FQHC APM and total cost of care APM including the medically uninsured.\nDescribe how pediatric populations can be managed differently under a combination of a capitated FQHC APM and total cost of care APM including the medically uninsured.\n\nJune 10: Session #2 – FQHC APM 2.0: Tweaking the Model \nDespite years of design sessions and negotiations among constituents\, adoption of FQHC APM 2.0 has been disappointing to say the least. Other states have pursued capitated alternative payment models for FQHCs\, also with protracted development phases. California’s capitated FQHC APM is unique as is the prevalence of professional capitation by FQHC-led IPAs\, but experience in other states offers suggestions for addressing the challenges unique to APM 2.0. These potential modifications will be discussed. \nBy the end of the session\, participants should be able to: \n\nDescribe at least two approaches to alternative payment model implementation and how they differ from the CA APM (especially regarding shared savings\, shared risk\, and global risk for total cost of care; and delegation of care management responsibilities).\nIdentify at least three promising or best practices for addressing the poor correlation between managed care PCP assignment and where patients receive their primary care.\nList at least two critical success factors for value-based care in the FQHC/community clinic environment.\n\nPresented by Art Jones. MD\, Principal and Helen DuPlessis\, MD\, MPH \nComplimentary for CCALAC Members and Affiliates \nRegister Now! \nInstructor Biographies \nArt Jones\, M.D. has 27 years of experience as a primary care physician and CEO at Lawndale Christian Health Center. SUMMARY:Cybersecurity for Emergency Management Professionals
DESCRIPTION:This 2-hour interactive workshop is tailored for emergency management teams within health centers and community health organizations. With the healthcare sector increasingly targeted by cyberattacks—especially ransomware—it’s critical for emergency managers to understand both the evolving threat landscape and their role in a coordinated response. Participants will receive a concise update on current cybersecurity trends and healthcare-specific threats\, explore key takeaways from recent ransomware incidents affecting health systems\, and examine how emergency management practices align with cybersecurity incident response frameworks.  \nThrough two hands-on virtual tabletop exercises\, participants will engage in scenario-based discussions designed to simulate a ransomware event in a healthcare setting. These exercises will challenge teams to work collaboratively\, adapt to evolving attacks\, and reflect on organizational preparedness\, communication protocols\, and continuity of care.  \nAs a result of participating in this course\, attendees will be able to: \n\nIdentify lessons learned from recent cyberattacks on healthcare organizations and evaluate how these lessons apply to their own health center’s preparedness.\nCompare emergency management and cybersecurity incident response processes and identify areas of operational overlap and collaboration.\nParticipate in virtual tabletop exercises simulating cybersecurity attacks\, demonstrating effective decision-making\, communication\, and coordination under pressure.\n\nPresented by Adam Kehler\, CISSP\, Director of Heath Cybersecurity Services\, Online Business Systems  \nComplimentary for members of CCALAC’s Emergency Management Program \n$25 for CCALAC Members & Affiliates and Non-Members \nRegister Now! \nInstructor Biography \nAdam Kehler\, CISSP\, Director of Heath Cybersecurity Services\, Online Business Systems  \nAs Director of Risk\, Security\, and Privacy Healthcare Service\, Adam is engaged in the oversight and delivery of projects related to HIPAA\, Security Risk Assessment\, virtual CISO\, and any other service that requires unique and specific knowledge of the healthcare landscape\, threats\, and compliance requirements. \n  \nThis training is supported by California Primary Care Association and Health Resource Services Administration.
