Incident Command System Training April 2019 @ CCALAC Offices

This course will provide foundational knowledge and skills necessary to understand and function within the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Incorporation of the Incident Command System (ICS) into the clinic enables cross-sector collaboration and support, including emergency resource acquisition and recovery dollars.

Participants will:

  • Learn fundamental approaches to emergency management
  • Learn the core concepts and principles of ICS
  • Simulate the ICS positions and roles with classmates
  • Learn the components of the NIMS and how to ensure your health center is NIMS compliant
  • Learn how response coordination is achieved in Los Angeles County
  • Apply learning to a disaster scenario

This training is for participants in CCALAC’s Emergency Management Program only. For more information about registering as a non-member and becoming a part of the Emergency Management Program, please contact Traci Bivens.

Board Leadership Training 5-10-19 @ Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County

Board Leadership + is full day training designed to provide the basics for new board members and act as an effective refresher for more seasoned board members.

Participants will:

    • Review the roles and responsibilities of effective board members
    • Explore considerations for building a strong board
    • Discuss common board “pitfalls” and how to avoid or correct them
    • Understand the board’s compliance obligations
    • Learn about health center finance

Advancing Financial Strength (AFS) 103: Identifying the Drivers of Maximum Performance & AFS 250: Improving the Drivers to Maximize Performance @ The California Endowment

Join us for this free training: AFS 103: Identifying the Drivers of Maximum Performance & AFS 250: Improving the Drivers to Maximize Performance. The new AFS training program builds upon past sessions by providing updated data and resources to better understand the specific factors that most influence the cost and quality of care (drivers) and act on this knowledge. The morning program provides an overview of the drivers of performance, including patient encounter and process improvement opportunities, while the afternoon program offers a deeper dive. All are encouraged to attend both sessions. All clinics enrolled will receive Cost Comparison Snapshots for their health centers if 2017 UDS data was reported and we have a signed Data Usage Agreement.

Audience: Any staff member interested in learning more about health center operations and how their individual efforts fit within (and contribute to) the clinic’s overall success. New and returning AFS participants encouraged to attend!

By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will:

  1. Understand the potential to optimize performance by identifying and managing the key variables that influence the cost and quality of care while improving patient and staff satisfaction.
  2. Receive an update on recent financial and operational trends in Los Angeles and California to understand what high performers do well.
  3. Review key metrics and data dashboards for ongoing tracking and communication.
  4. Learn best practices to maximize revenues and manage expenses – while maintaining high quality care and patient and staff satisfaction.
  5. Enable peer discussion and ideas around real-world challenges and improvement opportunities.

Lunch and Learn Webinar Series: My Plan Templates – OCHIN @ WEBINAR

We are pleased to announce a NextGen Provider Training Webinar Series in partnership with OCHIN. This series is intended to train Providers on best practices for commonly used templates and workflows in order to advance user knowledge of the system and improve overall efficiency.

The first webinar of the series will review best practice workflow for documenting the Today’s Assessment and Visit Plan utilizing either the My Plan or My Custom Plan templates. During this session providers will be instructed on how to place orders to the patients visit encounter by applying new orders and/or applying order sets and selecting existing orders. Providers will be instructed on how to manage existing and/or save a new Order Set on the My Plan template or My Custom Plan template. Throughout the webinar, participants have the capacity to ask questions and time will be set aside for Q & A at the end.

Participants will:

  • Add Today’s Assessment to the My Plan template or My Custom Plan template.
  • Understand how to add new orders and/or how to apply an existing Order set(s) to the My Plan template or My Custom Plan template.
  • Understand how to place orders through the My Plan template or My Custom Plan template.
  • How to manage existing and/or save a new Order Set on the My Plan template or My Custom Plan template.

This webinar will review provider prenatal workflow, with UDS data entry, including when to use various prenatal visits, OBGYN synopsis template, OB problem list, OB Initial Exam, prenatal lab ordering templates, and the high overview of parity auto calculations feature.

Participants will:

  • Understand steps for best practice OB Postpartum provider workflow.
  • Differentiate between when to use various prenatal visit types; OB Prenatal Initial, OB Prenatal, and OB Visit.

The Empathy® Effect Training: Countering Bias to Improve Health Outcomes @ Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County

The Empathy Effect: Countering Bias to Improve Health Outcomes

As humans we carry ideas and feelings about others that involve judgement, demonstrate stigma and reflect bias that are harmful for people most vulnerable is our communities. The Empathy Effect (EE) training is an opportunity for clinic staff that come into contact with patients/clients and their families to build common vocabulary and expectations utilizing evidence-based communication strategies. Three foundational premises are the basis for the EE workshop:

1. Empathy is healing and judgment is harmful,
2. Vulnerable populations experience greater harm by judgment and lack of empathy, and
3. We all have judgments, and we can learn to mitigate them.

Continuing education credits are available for CNEs and CEUs.

We are pleased to announce a NextGen Provider Training Webinar Series in partnership with OCHIN. This series is intended to train Providers on best practices for commonly used templates and workflows in order to advance user knowledge of the system and improve overall efficiency.

This webinar will review the various ways to access the Birth History template and how to enter a patient’s birth history information. The webinar will also help explain how the Birth History information relates to other areas of the patient’s chart, such as Growth Charts and vital signs template.

Participants will:

  • Enter the details of a patient’s birth history information on the Birth History template.
  • Understand where to document that a patient has Turner syndrome or Down syndrome on the Birth History template.
  • Understand how the gestational age entered on the Birth History template relates to the premature status of the patient.
  • Understand how the documentation entered on the Birth History template is related to the NextGen Growth Charts.
  • Understand various areas where to generate and print the patient’s growth charts.

We are pleased to announce a NextGen Provider Training Webinar Series in partnership with OCHIN. This series is intended to train Providers on best practices for commonly used templates and workflows in order to advance user knowledge of the system and improve overall efficiency.

This webinar will demonstrate how to document a Pediatric Well Child visit using a best practice support staff workflow so that the information will properly and automatically update the Peds Wellness Assessment template. Staff will learn how to update the Peds Wellness Assessment template to accurately complete line items to indicate No Problem, Not Needed, as well as updating the template to add approved comments and indicate if the line item is a new or existing issue.

Participants will:

  • Understand where to document within the Pediatric Well Child visit support staff workflow to automatically update items on the Peds Wellness Assessment template.
  • Understand how to review the Peds Wellness Assessment template and update line items to indicate No Problem and/or Not Needed status.
  • How to document Peds Wellness Assessment template to show new and/or existing issues and add CHDP approved comments to line items.
