Why Board Members Hate Fundraising & How to Fix It – 9:00am – 12:00pm

Do you have board members who are “allergic” to fundraising?  Few things are more critical to your nonprofits health, success and sustainability than an effective board of directors.  If you are ready to transform your D list to an A list come learn tips and tools to get board members willing to engage, share their contacts, be connected to your cause, and give of their financial resources and expertise.

During this lively and interactive session, participants discover strategies to:

  • Recruit board members, perform onboarding, and set expectations for service.
  • “Right” a board culture gone wrong and make board meetings more productive and meaningful.
  • Engage board members in fundraising by identifying ways board members can fundraise without making a face to face ask
  • Create a graceful exit for board members who need to go.
  • Empower board members to confidently have meaningful conversations with donors using sample conversation scripts and discovery tips
  • Bust common myths board members often have about fundraising

Making the Most of the Donor Visit: The Art & Science of Discovery – 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Your time with donors is a precious commodity.  If we want donors to understand us, we have to start by understanding them.  How do you make every second count?  Master the art and science of exceptional donor discovery as we reveal free discovery tools to learn more about donors before a visit, the science of quickly building rapport, the most popular conversational topic ever, the three things to NOT ask on a visit, body language, tips and tricks, the best discovery questions you could ever ask, and free and inexpensive tools to cultivate donors virtually.

After we master the art and science of great discovery, we’ll move on to focus on the real hard part – getting the appointment.  Participants practice overcoming the most common objections to getting the visit in an interactive activity.
