Building upon part one of the ACEs Aware training, part two will focus more on techniques in trauma informed care and empathy and motivational interviewing when addressing ACEs in the primary care setting. Additionally, we will describe appropriate treatment when a patient screens positive for four or more ACEs. We will provide an overview of treatment approaches/ family and caregiver interventions recommend by ACEs Aware, and provide resources in Los Angeles County for toxic stress interventions, behavioral health interventions, family and caregiver interventions, and education and learning interventions..

Learning Objectives of the Training Include:
Learning Objective 1: Deepen understanding of trauma informed care.
Learning Objective 2: Learn the role of empathy and motivational interviewing to improve the quality of the patient-provider conversation, building patient trust, and addressing past trauma experienced by the patient to improve treatment outcomes.
Learning Objective 3: Describe the various treatment protocols for patients (pediatric vs. adults) who screen positive for four or more ACEs.
Learning Objective 4: Learn the resources in Los Angeles County for interventions specific to: toxic stress, behavioral health, family and caregiver, and education and learning.
