This interactive training will empower healthcare providers to serve the LGBTQ patient population in a respectful and compassionate manner, understand the unique health disparities faced by the LGBTQ community, and create a welcoming environment for LGBTQ people. Attendees will leave with the knowledge and skills to foster LGBTQ-inclusive environments in their workplace.
This training is appropriate for any staff who want to improve their own patient interactions as well for clinic leaders interested it passing this information along to their staff.
As a result of this training, participants will:
- Define and understand commonly used LGBTQ terminology
- Gain an understanding of why knowing who your LGBTQ patients are is important
- Understand the unique health disparities faced by the LGBTQ community
- Learn tools for creating a safe space for LGBTQ patients and for having productive conversations with patients on sensitive topics such as gender identity and sexual behavior
