Equality California Institute’s LGBTQ Cultural Competency Training is designed to empower your staff to serve your LGBTQ patient or client population in a sensitive and respectful manner. We want to equip all organizations with the necessary tools and knowledge to build and maintain positive relationships with LGBTQ patients. We’ve developed an engaging, interactive training model to help empower staff members to become comfortable and conversant with LGBTQ concepts and terminology. Topics covered include LGBTQ 101 terminology, intersectionality, LGBTQ health disparities and social determinants of health, HIV prevention strategies and Safe and Welcoming Environments.
Audience: Providers, RNs, LVNs, MAs, Health Education and Outreach, Administrative Staff, etc.
Goals of this training include:
- Increasing awareness of LGBTQ issues and learn best practices for interacting respectfully with the LGBTQ community
- Empowering participants with the knowledge and best practices to create safe spaces for LGBTQ people in our work places and in our communities
- Allowing participants to share experiences, questions, and challenges interacting with the LGBTQ community
