CCALAC is happy to announce our next Policy Café with Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens). With the aggressive actions of the Trump Administration targeting our health care and our immigrant communities, California is moving to take steps to ensure the safety of our families. We will take this opportunity to have a conversation with Senator Lara about the state’s plan to protect immigrants’ access to health care service within the new political landscape.

The Policy Café will be 8:30am – 10:30am, Friday April 28, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (555 West Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA).

Registration is $35 and includes breakfast and parking at the Cathedral.

Senator Ricardo Lara (California Senate District 33)
Senator Lara (D-Bell Gardens) was elected with overwhelming support in November 2012 to represent the Southeast Los Angeles County cities of the 33rd Senate District. Raised in a blue collar immigrant household, Ricardo knows first-hand the challenges facing working families and is committed to improving the quality of life for all Californians. A champion for educational equity, civil rights and immigrant rights, Ricardo champions legislation that improves the quality of life for vulnerable communities. He has authored several first-in-the nation laws that recognize and invest in immigrant communities such as the California DREAM Loan Program, which helps undocumented students apply for loans to complete their higher education goals. Supporting California’s entrepreneurial spirit, Ricardo’s bill to update and expand access to professional licensing rules, regardless of immigration status, will stimulate local economies and create jobs.
