Vaccaro brings 18 years of health care experience in Southern California
The Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC), is pleased to announce that Nina Vaccaro has been selected as its new chief operating officer, effective August 1st. Ms. Vaccaro brings more than 18 years of nonprofit health care experience to the position.
Ms. Vaccaro is the founding executive director of Southside Coalition of Community Health Centers (Southside Coalition), a consortium of eight federally qualified health centers in South Los Angeles established in 2006. In this position, she strategically directed the organization’s activities to be on the forefront of care for low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents in South Los Angeles. Prior to joining the SouthSide Coalition, Ms. Vaccaro managed a free clinic, MEND (Meet Each Need With Dignity) in Pacoima, California. She has also worked as a case manager at Active Lifestyle for Older Adults and a social worker and special treatment program counselor at Community Care Center. Ms. Vaccaro earned her Masters in Public Health from California State University Northridge.

She has been an invaluable asset to South Los Angeles, helpIng to secure more than $20 million dollars in grants and contracts to expand primary care capacity within Southside Coalition’s member network by 57 percent,” said Richard Veloz, President and CEO of South Central Family Health Center and Southside Coalition Board Chair. “We are happy that she will bringing her considerable talents to benefit clinics countywide. Southside Coalition’s Board is developing a transition plan to bring on a new director in the coming months.”
As CCALAC’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Vaccaro will work with the organization’s CEO and leadership to ensure the success of the strategic plan. She will ensure the internal integration of CCALAC’s work within all of its departments, build organizational capabilities and capacity, and assist with leadership development.

Ms. Vaccaro will replace former COO Brian Nolan, who left CCALAC earlier this year after 14 years with the organization. Ms. Vaccaro will start her new position Monday, August 1.
